Fiddler's Dream 2009 - 2010
Neil, Elaine, Shelley, Jane, and Janis all headed North to ring in the New Year at Mimi's excellent dance, Fiddler's Dream. They were met by old band members, Gary Blankenship, Joe Barziza, and David Salonimer. We all joined together to provide the music for a 2 hour contra on Saturday afternoon, and the dancers were greatly pleased with our sound. We played a nice selection of our very old favorites. Nobody fell down on the dance floor, and the dancers all gathered around the band at the end of the dance to applaud us, so a good time was had by all. Thanks to our old band members for helping us out with our sound!
Members Come and Go
Well, a fond (and late) farewell to Waldo, who played delightful banjo with us for nigh on a year. We will miss your dulcet voice, Waldo!
And farewell to Gabrielle, as well, who graced our little band with her nimble fingers on the keyboard, and strumming the harp, not to mention the tunes she tinkled out on my glockenspiel from time to time, and the harmonies she improvised on her Alto Recorder. Her sweet disposition, and her musical expertise will be greatly missed!
Welcome back to old members, the two Davids...Christakos on the bazouki, and Salonimer on the guitar! We always need some good rhythm!

Farewell, Joe! We Will Miss You!
It was a wonderful time at Fiddler's Dream. We danced a lot, we played music every day, most of the day, and many of us into the weee hours (I'm not saying 4:00 a.m. is too late to be playing, Tim, I just heard...) Good times, except for one thing...
Joe let us know that he would no longer be playing with the band. Seems he has some high maintenance tomatoes (no, not Jennie) at home in Corsicana, along with a book he wants to write, and he wants to take a break from learning new tunes.
Well, that was sad news for all of us, but we wish you well, Joe! Best fortune with your book, and with your tomatoes. We will miss you. Come back, when you get tired of the 'maters, and the writing!
