Aha!
Janis, practice was cool on your porch like that. And your daughter even applauded us after one set.
I hope to have a set list worked up by next Sunday, we can go over it and re-do it, then we can post it here.
Gary, we've already decided that you're going to play with us at the June 2nd dance, all that's left is for you to work out the details
Practice at Janice's 4/15
For The Ashgrove, we have decided to start out in the key of G with Joe beginning and Shelly coming in on the second repitition of the A part. The fiddles will come in on the B part, and on the second time through the singers will begin and sing two verses. As soon as that is done we will switch to the key of D. So it looks like this:
Key of G
A1 - Joe
A2 - Joe & Shelly
B1 - Joe, Shelly, Jane and Janice
B2 - Joe, Shelly, Jane and Janice
A1 - B2 - Everyone with singing
Key of D
A1 - B2 - Everyone, no singing
If Gabrielle comes, we can figure out how to add the harp. We are going to meet at our house (Neil & Elaine) on the 22nd from 4:00 - 6:00, and are talking about meeting on the Thursday before our gig for an additional practice since When in Doubt Swing is going on the weekend before...at least I think that's what we agreed on. I was very distracted by our beautiful surroundings.
If anyone remembers anything else that we agreed on, please feel free to chime in!
For those who are singing The Ashgrove, here is a link to the lyrics:

News From the Windy City - Gary Speaks!
I fly back to Dallas 4/25 to go to the dentist, etc. Cheryl flies in May 2 to go to the dance weekend and flies back on about 5/8. I stick around to visit Dad and Annie, get some stuff done and to go to OK City on 5/12. Beyond that plans are still being formed. I hope/plan to have practice at my house 4/29. I will be in Dallas for two to three weeks.
Thanks for missing me at practice. You have no idea how much I miss playing /visiting with you guys. Things are going well here and I really enjoy getting to be with Cheryl, but you guys are such an enjoyable group and we have such a fun rapport and the music is getting better and better. There are opportunities to play at jams nearby that I know about, but haven't been to yet.
Hope work and job hunting is going well. Tell Neil hi. see ya soon.
It snowed here twice last week, once leaving an inch on the ground. Yikes!

Latest Practice at King's House
We went over the new waltz, and agreed that Shelley should play her wonderful drum with us. Gave the song a definite primitive celtic feel. Gabrielle could not resist joining us (although she was supposed to be napping...however...music was being made!) and brought our glockenspiel in from the music room and did a very credible job with it, considering it was her first time every playing it! Amazingly, considering how small it is, it was easy enough to hear, even over Joe's dulcimer. Gary, you were missed! But Shelley is doing an awesome job with her guitar strumming and picking, and she brought shortbread cookies!
